FULL FREEWAY CLOSURE: US 41 closing at WIS 144 interchange overnight Friday, July 25th

WASHINGTON COUNTY (WITI) -- Beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25th US 41 at the WIS 144 interchange will be reduced to a single lane in each direction, followed by a full freeway closure at 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.

WisDOT is scheduled to demolish the existing WIS 144 bridge deck over US 41 as part of the US 41/WIS 144 improvement project in Washington County.

If necessary, the same closure is scheduled for Saturday evening from 8:00 p.m. to midnight. US 41 will be open to through traffic during daytime hours with possible lane restrictions.

Safety to the traveling public is of the utmost priority. The safest way to remove the concrete bridge deck is to close the freeway completely. WisDOT has chosen an off-peak traffic time to minimize impacts to motorists. Motorists can utilize the following detour routes.

      Electronic signs with this information will be placed two miles north and south of the detour routes. Additionally, markers will be placed along the detour to assure motorists they are traveling the proper route.

      The Wisconsin State Patrol will be assisting with the closure operation.
