OSHKOSH (WITI) – Two brothers from Kentucky are being treated for non life-threatening injuries after their plane crashed in a field near the state prison in the town of Oshkosh on Wednesday, July 30th.

At 3:01 p.m. crews were dispatched to a small grass runway adjacent to the Hickory Oaks campground to find the brothers had crashed their home-built RV9A plane.

According to the Oshkosh Fire Department, the pilot was trying to land near the campground when he lost power at the entrance to the runway and just crashed.

According to EAA the plane was not part of Wednesday’s AirVenture show, however it is unclear if the brothers were attending AirVenture.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
