Burglary suspects busted by waiting police: "One suspect actually fell through the roof"

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Attentive police work pays off for some Milwaukee police officers this week -- as a pair of suspects quite literally drop into their hands.

Early Wednesday morning, July 30th, two District 5 officers noticed that the security lights weren't on at Bouchard's on MLK Dr.

"Having been aware that there was three previous burglaries to the Bouchard's location as well as a couple other businesses that are similar to Bouchard's, they conducted an investigation and discovered a hole on the roof of JJ's which is right next door," said Lt. Heather Wurth of the Milwaukee Police Department.

This was all a little before 5 a.m. With help from the fire department and the business owner, police were able to investigate and found several items had been stolen.

"Some shoes and some miscellaneous clothing and things," said Lt. Wurth.

They'd been on the scene for a few hours -- with no sign of any suspects when...

"One suspect actually fell through the roof and they were alerted to another suspect that was hiding in the ceiling by the store owner," said Lt. Wurth.

A 20-year-old man and a 28-year-old man were both taken into custody. Neither was hurt in the ordeal. Police are not releasing their names yet -- though FOX6 News is told both have criminal records.

Lt. Wurth says Officers Charles Seelow and John Larson made the arrests.
