"The best year we've ever had!" Vendors "tired, but happy" after many broke records during State Fair

WEST ALLIS (WITI) -- It was a record breaking year at the Wisconsin State Fair! Over one MILLION came out for fun and food on a stick during the fair's 11-day run. The 2014 Wisconsin State Fair wrapped up on Sunday night, August 10th -- and on Monday, it was time to clean up!

"You get the bug and it's fun!" Brad Heaton, who runs the power jumps and ejection seat at the Wisconsin State Fair said.

Heaton still has the "State Fair bug" even through all of the sweat-inducing clean up he was taking part in on Monday.

"We set records here Saturday. The kids here, they jumped -- close to 1,000 little kids!" Heaton said.

Heaton says he attributes his success to his hard-working crew.

"The people here are tremendous. I got college kids that have been working with me for six, seven years and they`re terrific," Heaton said.

Heaton isn`t the only one thinking they broke records this year. Other vendors, including those selling merchandise, feel the same.

"It was great! It was the best year we've ever had," Dan Elias said.

Elias has been managing "Fair Wear" for 12 years. He says beyond a doubt, this was a record year. That was making clean up a bit easier on Monday.

"We`re still riding high. I`m going to take some time off after this. So as soon we can tear down, we can finally take a breather and relax," Elias, with TSMGI said.

Vendors were working hard on Monday -- getting everything taken down and cleaned up, including shelving, cabinets, displays and more.

"It is a little hectic on the grounds, but people make way for each other, and everyone is tired, but they`re happy," Elias said.

Cleaning up has to go even faster this year. Grounds crews have just four more days until the next big event at State Fair Park -- IndyFest!
