Cops "stake out" Dunkin' Donuts rooftops for Special Olympics fundraiser

MILWAUKEE (WITI) --If you drove past a Dunkin' Donuts Friday morning, August 15th, you may have noticed a few police officers on the roof. Well, they were there for a good cause.

Law enforcement officers from throughout the state covered  Dunkin' Donuts rooftops to heighten awareness and raise money for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Wisconsin.

In return for the police officers “doing time” at their restaurants, Dunkin’ Donuts will donate $5,000 to the organization.  In addition, each guest who donated received a coupon for a free medium hot or iced coffee.

Last year, Wisconsin police officers raised more than $28,000 from atop 20 Dunkin’ Donuts rooftops for Special Olympics Wisconsin.

Special Olympics Wisconsin provides year-round training and competition opportunities through 17 different Olympic-type sports for nearly 10,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities.  The organization holds more than 650 competitions statewide and five state tournaments per year.  For more information, visit SpecialOlympicsWisconsin.org or call (800) 552-1324.
