"Find My iPhone" app helps Milwaukee police locate two armed robbery suspects

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Two armed robbery suspects were arrested after Milwaukee police use the “Find My iPhone” app to locate them.

District 1 officers responded to an armed robbery in the 2600 block of N. Murray Avenue at 2:20 a.m. on August 28.

The victims, two 21-year-old men from Milwaukee, told officers they were robbed of their cell phones at gunpoint by two suspects.

Officers used their own cell phones to log into the “Find My iPhone” app and the phones tracking took them to the area of S. 5th Street and W. Mineral Street.

Officers located and arrested the suspect, a 22-year-old Milwaukee man, who had on him a revolver and the two stolen phones. A second suspect, a 24-year-old Milwaukee man, was also taken into custody for his believed involvement in the crime.

The case will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
