Gubernatorial race: Spending on TV nearly equal for Mary Burke, Governor Scott Walker
MADISON (AP) — Spending on television ads in the race for Wisconsin governor is nearly equal between Gov. Scott Walker and Democrat Mary Burke.
The latest tallies from the Center for Public Integrity released Thursday show estimated spending on ads that have run through Monday. The group's totals show Walker and his backers have spent about $5.6 million on ads, while Burke and her supporters have spent about $5.4 million.
As much has been spent on ads in the past month as had been the entire election prior to the first week of September.
The latest results do not take into account a flurry of new ads that hit television sets this week including one from the national group Emily's List targeting Walker's record on women's health issues and Walker's response.
