Several crews respond to Appleton Electric after molten metal spill
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Several streets were shut down near 5th and Madison in South Milwaukee Sunday night, October 19th while fire crews dealt with a molten metal spill at Appleton Electric Company.
South Milwaukee police tell FOX6 News one of five furnaces in the building containing molten metal spilled its contents.
Officials say the spill did not ignite a fire, but there was plenty of smoke.
Several departments responded to the scene -- including Wauwatosa, Caledonia and South Milwaukee.
Upon arrival, crews were able to contain the molten metal and clean the area.
Crews stayed on the scene for more than three hours -- ventilating the affected areas.
No injuries were sustained.
At this time, there is no damage estimate available.
