Arrested: 16-year-old boy caught trying to burglarize north side home

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A burglary suspect was arrested by the Milwaukee Police Department after officers find him trying to steal items from a north side home.

Officers were dispatched to a home in the 2800 block of N. 16th Street at about 12:15 p.m. on December 11 for a report of a burglary.

When they arrived at the scene, officers talked with the victim, a 67-year-old Milwaukee man, who told them he had just returned home and heard loud noises coming from the second floor. District Five officers went into the home, found the suspect, and took him into custody.

Officers found a bag the suspect was using that was filled with several valuable items -- including cell phones and a camera. The suspect is a 16-year-old male from Milwaukee.

MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
