Wireless carriers have a big interest in the next generation of cars, but why?

(WITI) -- Wireless carriers have a big interest in the next generation of cars because they will all be connected to the internet. Rich DeMuro paid a visit to a special garage where new connected car technologies are being tested. It’s called the AT&T Drive Studio in Atlanta.

Just like your smartphone, the internet in your car will generally be “locked” to one carrier. But, if it’s the same company as your phone, you should be able to add your car to your shared data plan for about $10 dollars a month.
