Packers playoff matchup means BIG business for bars, grocery stores, caterers as folks plan parties

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The excitement is palpable ahead of the big NFC Championship matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks this Sunday, January 18th -- and the big game means big business for bars, grocery stores and caterers, and the party planning has already begun!

There is a certain hysteria that comes over Wisconsin on game day. Multiply that by a thousand and that's what business owners say they expect on game day.

"It's like four hours of Christmas business," Michael Glorioso with Glorioso's Italian Market said.

The anticipation is met with huge demand from Packers fans looking to take in the game with delicious treats and drinks.

"It's really busy for short periods of time. Beef, meatballs, cannolis, pizzas," Glorioso said.

As Packers fans gear up for their game day parties, Glorioso's is gearing up for big sales.

"We sell hundreds of pizzas. People will come in and want five, ten, fifteen pounds (of sausages) trayed for their Packers parties," Glorioso said.

Karma Bar and Grill staff began preparations for Sunday last week! This Sunday, staff will be tripled at the establishment on East Ogden Avenue, and they're expecting a full house.

"With a playoff game, you know you're going to be busy. We prepare with extra staff. We have to order more. We have to be ready to execute on a high level. Every playoff win is the guarantee of another busy week, which is exactly what we're hoping for. It means a lot to me that we win, but as a business owner, it means even more," Karma Bar and Grill owner Ari Domnitz said.

These business owners say as both Packers fans and business owners, they're hoping to see the Packers in the Super Bowl.

"We're preparing for the Super Bowl already!" Glorioso said.

Business owners say there really is a mad rush -- whether at the grocery store or the bar. The key is to plan ahead!
