"Hopefully I'm not the next victim:" Neighbors disheartened after two shot, one killed near 91st & Thurston

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Those who live near 91st and Thurston are calling for additional police patrols as Milwaukee police investigate a homicide.

Police say two teenagers were shot during late Tuesday, January 13th -- around 11:00 p.m. in what appears to be a drug-related incident.

A 15-year-old boy was treated and released. A 19-year-old boy died at the hospital.

No one is in custody.

"I woke up this morning and I heard about it on the news and I'm like 'man!' Somebody just got killed this close? it's shocking. It's shocking," Wes Walker said.

Another man tells FOX6 News he witnessed the aftermath of the shooting.

"I looked out my bathroom window and there it was. I heard the 'pop, pop, pop.' They was laying out there and got up and they ran. I didn't think they were hit, but then when the police came and asked me questions, come to find out two people were hit. There was only three gunshots," the man said.

This man didn't want to be identified, but he says he wants more police in the area -- especially after what happened late Tuesday.

"Let's patrol the area a little better. I mean, people are getting robbed left and right around here. You just ain't safe no kinda way because people just constantly trying to come after you, you know? Stealing, killing -- whatever," the man said.

Walker says he refused to be intimidated, saying what happened won't keep him from his weekly walks in the neighborhood.

"I ain't going to change too much of my habits. Just be more on the lookout in my surroundings, you know, and hopefully I'm not the next victim," Walker said.

The investigation into this shooting is ongoing.
