Ready to take flight: Milwaukee Air & Water Show features Thunderbirds, Breitling Precision Jet Team

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Mark your calendar so you don't miss any of the action in this year's Milwaukee Air & Water Show. Organizers have not forgotten last year's fog -- and for that reason, they're taking a different approach to scheduling the event -- which is now set for Saturday, July 25th and Sunday, July 26th.

"That was only the third time in 27 ½ years that I've ever seen a show go, completely, with no airplanes fly," said Herb Hunter, Air & Water Show announcer.

"If the lake stays cold, into the late spring, and early summer, this year, then it`s a possibility that something like that could happen, again," said Clark Evans, UW-Milwaukee Assistant Professor of Atmospheric Science.

Because we could be in for a cooler-than-usual spring, Air & Water Show organizers have cooked up an avoidance strategy -- scheduling the event more than one month later than last year.

"We did move the show to a later date in July to get into more of the drier air, so that's gonna be a factor. So we're planning on 80-degrees and sunshine," said Paul Rogers, Air & Water Show President.

This is the seventh consecutive year for the Milwaukee Air & Water Show -- and its organizers say 2015 is shaping up to be the best year yet in large part because of its headliners. They include the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, U.S.  Army Golden Knights, Breitling Precision Jet Team and the Aerostars Formation  Aerobatic Team.
