Kenosha County Jail inmate tests positive for tuberculosis

KENOSHA COUNTY (WITI) -- A person being held at the Kenosha County Jail on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer tested positive for tuberculosis. The subject being detained is currently in a medical isolation room within the jail.

The Sheriff’s Department is working in conjunction with the Kenosha County Division of Health to facilitate the testing procedures to ensure the safety of all department personnel and people held in custody.

It has been a long standing protocol to annually test all Sheriff’s Department Detentions Division employees for Tuberculosis. This year’s testing was already partially complete.   The Sheriff’s Department will work with Division of Health officials to test and then retest every involved employee, volunteer and detained person.

There is no threat to the general public.
