"Working with one another:" New initiative aims at bringing Latinos, African-Americans together

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- There is a new initiative to bring Milwaukee's Latino and African-American communities together.

The new campaign is called "The Blacktino Initiative in Wisconsin."

It was announced Monday morning, March 16th at Milwaukee's City Hall.

The goal is to bring the minority communities together to learn from each other and to work together to create safer neighborhoods, and to work towards more jobs and better schools.

"As we move forward, we have so many things to be happy about, so many things to celebrate, and we also have challenges and we will never overcome them if we are not talking and working with one another," Milwaukee Alderman Jose Perez said.

A kickoff carnival is planned for March 27th at the Tripoli Shrine Center on Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee.
