"It broadens your awareness:" Bradley Center hosts 2015 Walk Now for Autism Speaks

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Saturday marked the 2015 Milwaukee Walk Now for Autism Speaks at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

The goal of the event is to raise money for funding research, public awareness -- and a cure.

There was an outdoor walk at Saturday's event and a lot of people hit up the 'fun zones.' Kids got a chance to face paint, make a balloon animal or enjoy a photo booth.

Organizers say an event like today can really open people's eyes.

"It broadens your awareness of the world, you don't know how many families are affected by autism, until you get to start talking to people," said Marquette student, Brynna Goulding.

It was free to participate in the walk, but everyone that was able to raise at least $150 got a free t-shirt.

FOX6 News was a proud sponsor of the event.
