Packers Tailgate tour makes a pit stop at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Green Bay Packers season may be over but the tailgating is still in full swing. Team members and alumni are giving back to the community and hit the road for the 10th Anniversary Packers Tailgate Tour as they made a stop at the Children's Hospital in Milwaukee.

Camera flashes flicker, but the smiles truly light up the room.

About 50 kids at the Children's Hospital in Milwaukee got an unexpected surprise Saturday morning, April 18th, as Green Bay Packers players like Andrew Quarless, and former star Gilbert Brown, made a special visit.

"It's really a good feeling to know that you could not know somebody and they really appreciate you and love what you do," said Gilbert Brown, Green Bay Packers Tight End.

The event was a chance to bring something fun to kids who don't normally get to have these kinds of opportunities because they are isolated because of their illness.

A therapeutic moment for Stacey Gonzalez and her daughter Nalaya.

"What an honor and what a blessing. We are Packers fans," said Gonzalez.

The uplifting break was an emotional one.

"Nalaya has neurofibromatosis type 1, and she was born with a big plexiform neurofibroma in her upper left chest. This is our second surgery and we have one more to go and she is a trooper. I'm very blessed to have her as my daughter -- she is my hero," said Gonzalez.

From autographed footballs, to a chance to wear a Hall of Fame ring -- these moments were priceless.

Another joy was meeting living legends, David Robinson and Jerry Kramer, who won Superbowl I and II.

This is just one stop on the Tailgate Tour. Over the last 10 years, the team has raised more than $1.6 million for charity. But for these guys, the real payoff isn't the monetary.

"Making other people feel good makes you feel good so it's been a very rewarding trip for me," said Gonzalez.

The interaction may have been only for a few moments, but the memory will last forever.

This was the last leg of the Packers Tailgate Tour.

During their trip, they made different stops in the community from places like schools and nursing homes. They also helped in charitable events, like helping fix up homes.
