All lanes on I-94 now open near Hwy. 164 following vehicle fire
PEWAUKEE (WITI) -- A vehicle fire forced officials to temporarily shut down a portion of I-94 near Highway 164 Monday morning, May 18th. Officials say a tractor trailer rolled over and started on fire around 9 a.m.
When crews arrived on scene, they closed both directions of I-94 due to the fire and propane tank that was on the tractor trailer. City of Waukesha, Town of Brookfield, and Village of Pewaukee Police Departments assisted with closing the interstate.
The driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured and no other vehicles were involved. The City of Pewaukee and Town of Delafield Fire Departments extinguished the fire.
Due to an excessive amount of diesel fuel leaking from the tractor trailer, the eastbound and westbound lanes were shut down. The westbound lanes of I-94 re-opened at 9:50 a.m. The eastbound lanes re-opened around noon.
A Wisconsin State Patrol Truck Inspector is assisting with the investigation and the incident remains under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.
