Suspect sought after robbery at bank in Wales prompts Bomb Squad response

WALES -- The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department is investigating a bank robbery at the Town Bank in Wales that happened on Monday afternoon, June 1st.

Officials say shortly after 1:30 p.m., a man entered the bank, demanded money and informed the teller he had a bomb. An object was placed on the counter at that time. The man left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit was called to the scene to handle the package that was left on the bank counter. The suspicious object on the counter was deemed inert by the Bomb Squad.

Nobody inside the bank was hurt -- and there are no suspects in custody. Officials believe the suspect was working by himself.

The suspect was wearing a white construction-type hard hat and a reflective vest.

State Highway 83 was shut down for approximately two hours during this investigation.
