Nearly 100 juveniles fill the street, block traffic near 80th & Burleigh

MILWAUKEE -- Almost 100 kids filled the street near N. 80th and W. Burleigh Street in Milwaukee. For a time, they were blocking traffic and police believe it all started with a party.

Police say 80-100 juveniles between the ages of 15 and 18 took to the streets shortly after 8 p.m. Friday night, June 12th.

Authorities believe it happened during a large party -- and the juveniles started marching toward 80th and Appleton Avenue -- blocking traffic on the way.

Police say about 15 citations were issued for disorderly conduct.

There were no reports of injuries or damage to property.

Several juveniles were detained before they were released to their parents.

"We're still doing an investigation to find out who threw the party, who was giving the party, that type of thing -- so we're still doing that, so we'll follow up that part of it," Milwaukee Police Department Deputy Inspector Michael Brunson said.
