Police search neighborhood after taking call from individual reporting lion sighting near Garfield & Palmer

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating, after they say they took a report from someone who saw what they believed to be a lion near E. Garfield Avenue and Palmer Street on Monday, July 20th.

Police say shortly after 4:00 p.m., they received a call, and they then checked the neighborhood for several hours.

Police were still on scene shortly before 11:00 p.m.

They say they have received no further reports from anyone regarding a loose animal.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has been contacted. DNR officials advise anyone who sees a wild cat should contact authorities. Do not try to approach or capture the animal.
