Lightning strike sparks house fire in Sheboygan; no one injured

SHEBOYGAN  -- The Sheboygan Fire Department responded to the scene of a house fire on Huron Avenue in the City of Sheboygan Sunday night, August 2nd.

When crews arrived on scene, there was fire in the attic of the home. Sheboygan Fire Department crews worked to contain the fire to the attic and extinguished it.

Damage from the fire was limited primarily to the attic with some additional damage to the first and second floor of the home.

The Cedar Grove Fire Department also responded to the scene at the request of the Sheboygan Fire Department and assisted with refilling breathing air bottles.

The apparent cause of the fire based on early investigation was a lightning strike.

Three occupants were home at the time of the fire, but everyone evacuated safely and no one was injured as a result of the fire.
