Sheriff's Office: 49-year-old man accused of striking deputy's squad indicated he had taken Ambien

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials say a 49-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested, accused of striking a deputy's squad with his vehicle early Sunday morning, September 27th.

It happened around 2:30 a.m.

The Sheriff's deputy was performing field sobriety tests during a traffic stop at Highland Avenue and Water Street when his squad was struck.

The squad's light bar was activated at the time, according to Sheriff's officials.

The operator of the striking vehicle, 49-year-old Alban Flores of Milwaukee, indicated he had taken Ambien and didn't remember striking the squad.

MPD is investigating this incident.

Meanwhile, Flores was issued six citations for: DUI (first offense), DUI (controlled substance - first offense), failure to control vehicle, operating without insurance, inattentive driving, non-registration of vehicle.

Neither Flores nor the deputy was injured.
