Milwaukee police say two men were driving in a vehicle around 3:45 a.m. Saturday, October 31st when shots were fired and both men were struck.

"We heard a big boom," said Lavelle Kyles, tried to help victims.

Photos taken from Lavelle Kyles' porch show a devastating scene.

The driver, identified as 31-year-old Thomas Wilson of Milwaukee, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"My buddy, he opened the door and he checked the guys vitals and he died right there in my friend's arms," said Kyles.

The lone passenger, a 30-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Nearby, neighbors show concern and sympathy.

"It gets me pretty nervous knowing that it happened that close to me. I feel for them. There's too many shootings going on in the city right now. I hope it will end somehow," said Keith Williams, neighbor.

Kyles says he's been hardened by past experiences.

"We are veterans, we are used to it but we don't like to see it," said Kyles.

But it's senseless, callous killings like this that make him more compassionate and eager to see a change on the streets.

"His life was cut short too soon as far as I'm concerned. I'm sorry that it happened," said Kyles.

Police have no suspects in custody -- and are working to determine a motive in this case.
