MILWAUKEE -- An officer-involved shooting occurred near 35th and Auer in Milwaukee on Monday night, November 2nd. It happened shortly before 9:00 p.m. Police say two MPD officers on bicycles were investigating a suspicious vehicle without license plates in an alley near 34th and Auer around 8:40 p.m. when they found three suspects in the vehicle -- one clearly armed with a handgun. When officers made contact with the armed suspect, gunfire was exchanged, police say. Two of the suspects in the vehicle were shot by the officers -- and one of the suspects fled. That suspect was arrested a short distance away. Two handguns were recovered at the scene -- along with narcotics. The suspects have been identified as two 17-year-old boys from Milwaukee and an 18-year-old man from West Allis. The two 17-year-old suspects were conveyed to hospitals where they are undergoing treatment for their injuries. The third suspect was arrested at the scene.

The vehicle, a 2004 Infinity, was taken in an October burglary on Milwaukee's south side. The officers are 42-years-old and 30-years-old with 11 and five years of service, respectively. Both men are assigned to MPD's District 7 and, as is protocol, have been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation. The Milwaukee Police Department has contacted the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation who will lead the investigation.
