Reptile mistreatment case in northern Wisconsin: Three large snakes found frozen in tote box

MERRILL — Sheriff's deputies in northern Wisconsin are investigating a reptile mistreatment case.

The Lincoln County Humane Society says three large snakes were found frozen in a tote box along a road near Irma.

The Humane Society says it appears no one wanted the snakes and chose to kill them by freezing them. Temperatures were well above freezing when the snakes were found this week.

WSAW-TV reports the Humane Society says it will assist with finding new homes for reptiles if they're no longer wanted.
