Canadian Pacific: Another derailment near scene of Sunday's train derailment in Watertown

WATERTOWN -- FOX6 News has learned there was another train derailment in Watertown on Wednesday, November 11th. This, four days after 13 cars from a Canadian Pacific train carrying Bakken crude oil derailed, and 300-500 gallons of crude oil leaked from a punctured rail car. 35 homes were evacuated as a result of that derailment, which happened on Sunday afternoon.

A Canadian Pacific spokesman tells FOX6 News on Wednesday, five rail cars, including an empty box car, and empty grain car and three empty tank cars derailed as they were being moved at a very low rate of speed.

The cars remained upright, and the tanks themselves were not affected by the derailment.

There was no risk to the public as a result of this incident, the CP spokesman said.

The cars were re-railed within two hours.

The investigation into this minor incident is ongoing.

We're told this derailment occurred about 400 feet west of the site of Sunday's derailment.

Sunday's derailment in Watertown came just one day after a train derailed near Alma, spilling ethanol.
