MPD: 46-year-old woman shot, injured during attempted robbery near 33rd & Cherry

MILWAUKEE -- With the help of two victims, Milwaukee Police arrested an armed robbery and shooting suspect minutes after the crime happened.

District Three officers responded to the area of 33rd and Cherry around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, November 13th for a trouble with a subject call. When the officers arrived, they heard a gunshot being fired in a nearby alley. The officers located the crime scene and saw two victims, a man and a woman, struggling with an armed suspect.

The suspect, a 50-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken into custody and the officers recovered a .22 caliber revolver.

The victims, a 46-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man, were inside a car when the suspect approached them and tried to rob them. When the victims did not cooperate, the suspect shot the woman.

The officers called for medical attention for the woman and she was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

MPD will present the case against the suspect to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
