    Dear Milwaukee,

As a member of the community, I urge all you citizens to band together and take back our communities. We are going to end up having martial law imposed if the people here cannot stop killing one another. I’m so saddened by all the needless violence and senseless deaths, it has even touched my life, as well as countless others I know. We are becoming the little Chicago when it comes to our climbing violent crime and murder statistics. Come on, we all know we are better than this. And it may sound bad but even the criminals can halt this. Just stop. I am sure the criminal element doesn’t want their children seeing a crime scene, well either do we! I cry for our children who are woken up to gunshots, screams and sirens, presented with scenes, in a place they should be able to feel safe in, of gore and it is greatly damaging them physically and psychologically. These people and their babies are going to have PTSD just from living. This is appallingly wrong. I urge everyone to speak to their neighbors, get to know them so you know your neighborhood and who belongs there and who doesn’t. We need to recognize that when the finality of death hangs in the balance, a call to the police is not snitching. And we have seen that even if we are not at all involved with this violence that it can come in our homes and kill us and our children still. We need to take special care of the younger 18-30 year olds here and present them with REAL opportunities for legitimate work that pays a LIVING wage, more mental health access and support, substance abuse rehabilitation access, help with furthering work skills and education, end the war on drugs fueling a lot of this crime and most of all stop ALL racism. We are all people and we are all in this together. If we remain divided, finger pointing and blaming and shaming, nothing will get solved. What I have proposed sounds impossible, but I know as a whole we can accomplish a positive change. All we need to do is work together! I may live outside of the city but I am YOUR neighbor and I care about all my neighbors regardless of socioeconomic status, race, color, religion and I will help anyway I can to stop this violence. I urge all you to look at eachother the same way. Only together can we change this, only together can we expect to see our children grow up without fear!

    I love my city, Milwaukee.

    Let’s all do the same!

Thank you, Mel, for finally saying what needed to be said. Like the old saying, “it takes a village”. Whose house? OUR house!

      I don’t know if it’s as bad as Chi-Town, Source-http://heyjackass.com/
Those kids have NOTHING TO DO. When you grow up around this behavior you become the behavior through your siblings and the way you are raised as a child whether that be your Auntie, Grandma, Sister or maybe even the ACTUAL mother and Father. There’s no heritage in the parts of the black community think about the family history. It’s like some black kids have no direction since birth, probably because kids are having kids? But then they also could be taught to have this mentality. Education.
