Milwaukee-based team plans to launch Royal Enfield bikes on January 1st

MILWAUKEE -- Former Harley-Davidson executives are working to relaunch Royal Enfield bikes from Milwaukee.

The India-based company announced earlier this year it would open a North American corporate headquarters near Water and Chicago in the Third Ward.

The Milwaukee-based team plans to officially launch its lightweight motorcycle brand in the United States on January 1st.

The headquarters will be run by former Harley-Davidson executive Rod Copes.

Copes told the Milwaukee Business Journal that 35 dealers across the United States and Canada have applications to sell Royal Enfield bikes.
