Dane County deputy hurt when drunken driver hits squad car

MADISON — A Dane County sheriff's deputy was hurt when authorities say a drunken driver struck his squad car in Madison.

The deputy had made a traffic stop around 10 p.m. Friday and was back in his squad car completing paperwork when his car was struck from behind.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office says the deputy suffered minor injuries. He was treated and released from a hospital.

A 32-year-old Portage man was driving the vehicle that rear-ended the deputy's car. The driver was not hurt. He was arrested and booked into jail.
