The dream is alive: Powerball lottery jackpot soars to $400 million

DES MOINES — Lottery officials say there was no grand prize winner in the first Powerball drawing of the year that also offers one of the biggest prizes in the game's history.

The jackpot for Wednesday's drawing will now be worth an estimated $400 million -- $244.8 million for a winner who selects the lump sum cash option.

The winning numbers in Saturday evening’s drawing were: 5, 6, 15, 29, 42 and the Powerball was 10.

With Saturday's drawing, someone from Pennsylvania won $2 million and three players from California, Connecticut and South Carolina won $1 million.

Iowa Lottery spokesman Kevin Kirkpatrick says Powerball’s largest jackpot was more than $590 million in May 2013. Kirkpatrick says the game would have to continue a few more rounds without a winner before it could reach that level.

The odds of winning Saturday's Powerball jackpot were 1 in 292 million.
