Ford Mustang Cobra GT 500 carries the signatures of veterans, so we never forget their sacrifice

MILWAUKEE -- A one-of-a-kind muscle car has rolled into southeastern Wisconsin, and it honors our nation's veterans.

"The hood is pretty much filled," Gary Walter, with the U.S. Navy said, as he pointed out the thousands of signatures on the vehicle.

One look at the vehicle brings back a lot of memories for veterans, because each signature on it represents a lifetime of service.

"I'd do it again in a heartbeat," Pete Fredlund said.

"Imagine that every veteran who signed this has their own story," Walter said.

So when you see all the names together, an already powerful vehicle becomes an even more powerful symbol.

"Just go to any spot, they are all side by side and next to each other," Walter said.

The Ford Mustang is now a rolling monument, covered with the hand-written signatures of U.S. veterans.

"A tribute to the folks that were wounded and lost body parts and didn't make it back. That's what it's all about," Fredlund said.

Andy Tully of Delevan owns the 2011 Cobra GT 500.

"It went through 48 states in 30 days and got signatures and then it was taken to auction," Tully said.

Tully bought the vehicle just a few months ago.

Between him and its previous owners, the vehicle has raised more than $1 million for the Wounded Warrior Project.

"If you are a veteran, you've earned the right to sign this car and that's what makes it so special and that's all we really want," Matt Amato said.

This car, with a few thousand names, continues to collect more.

"Words can't describe it," Leo Monahan with the U.S. Navy said.

This fast car has a new purpose -- ensuring we never forget the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform.

"I think this is the greatest thing to ever happen," a veteran said.
