West Allis woman arrested for OWI, eluding, accused of crashing into squad on I-94

WAUKESHA COUNTY -- Waukesha County Sheriff's officials have released photos to FOX6 News after a vehicle being pursued by a deputy struck another deputy's squad early on Saturday morning, February 13th.

It happened around 2:15 a.m.

Sheriff's officials say a deputy attempted a traffic stop on a Jeep Compass headed westbound on I-94, west of Moorland Road in Brookfield for operating without its lights illuminated.

Another deputy was responding to a citizen complaint regarding a possible intoxicated driver in the same area.

The Jeep Compass failed to yield to the squad's emergency lights and siren as it continued westbound on I-94 at approximately 40 miles-per-hour. Vehicle speeds continued to slow to less than five miles-per-hour when the Jeep Compass crashed into a median wall east of Barker Road in Brookfield.

The Jeep Compass then left the crash scene with the squad still following.

Sheriff's officials say the Jeep then attempted to elude the following squad.

The squad investigating the other complaint regarding a possible intoxicated driver had just released a motorist from a traffic stop on I-94 westbound east of Redford Boulevard in Pewaukee as the pursuit approached the deputy's location.

Sheriff's officials say the Jeep crossed all lanes of traffic on the interstate and crashed into the rear of the squad, which was parked in the right shoulder lane with its emergency lights illuminated.

The deputy had to run from the area in order to avoid being struck by the Jeep.

Sheriff's officials say the Jeep was being driven by a 23-year-old West Allis woman, the sole occupant of the vehicle.

She was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

She was then arrested for OWI and eluding.
