Firefighters rescue window washers outside Chicago high-rise
CHICAGO — Two window washers were rescued after they were left dangling briefly outside a high-rise building in downtown Chicago when part of the scaffolding broke.
Chicago Fire Battalion Chief Patrick Mahoney told WMAQ-TV firefighters were called to the scene Saturday when one side of the scaffolding dropped. He says the two men were in harnesses dangling from about the 15th floor.
Mahoney says firefighters opened part of a window and lowered a rope to the pair, who were pulled inside. He says the two men were shaken up, but not injured.
Mahoney says the scaffolding company is on the scene trying to determine what went wrong.
