Speed believed to be a factor: 65-year-old man killed in crash near Southridge Mall

GREENFIELD -- Greenfield police say a 65-year-old man from Milwaukee was killed in a crash involving two vehicles that happened near 76th and Layton Avenue on Sunday night, April 17th.

It happened around 6:30 p.m.

Police say the Milwaukee man was located trapped in his vehicle with significant injuries.

Officials with the Greenfield Fire Department extricated the man from his vehicle and began life-saving measures. He was taken to Froedtert Hospital, where he died.

An investigation into the crash revealed the man's vehicle had pulled out of the parking lot of the Barnes 'n Noble store when the crash happened.

The striking vehicle, driven by a 21-year-old Greenfield man, was headed southbound on S. 76th Street when it struck the Milwaukee man's vehicle after it had pulled out of the lot.

The Greenfield man sustained minor injuries.

Police say speed is believed to be a factor in this crash, which remains under investigation.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting with accident reconstruction in this case.
