MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a double shooting that happened near 45th and Wright on Monday afternoon, April 25th.

It happened just after 3:00 p.m.

Police say a 17-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl were shot after an argument.

They were taken to the hospital by family members.

The investigation is ongoing -- and police are seeking a known suspect.

For some, the crime tape in the neighborhood on Monday afternoon was a frightening reminder of what summer brings in Milwaukee.

"As the days get hotter and longer, you're going to have two or three shootings a day," Demarcus Tyce, Sr. said.

"I just hate that this has to go on," Chanta Jones said.

Jones watched the police investigation from across the street. After she learned the victims were just 17 and 13, she called upon the parents in the community to step up and parent their children.

"It starts at home.  It really does.  That`s where you lay your seed and that`s where it`s going to grow," Jones said.

The 13-year-old victim in this case is just one year older than Chad Cooper, who was outside playing when the violence erupted.

"They just pull out a gun and -- boom!" Cooper said.

"My boys, they ain`t going outside unless I`m outside.  We really need to find something for them to do during the summer," Tyce Sr., Cooper's father said.

I’m 23 years old and I have never been in a physical altercation with a person nor have I ever owned, seen, or held a gun. Not all black people do the same things. You sound very ignorant.

Since the BLM movement,it appears that black on black crime/homicides have escalated,WHY? I guess these 2 girls lives don’t matter huh? Such evil and Satanic beasts that commit violent acts need to be eliminated. Bring on the death penalty.

The BLM movement’s focus is on police brutality and excessive force towards the black community. Not black on black crime. Black on black crime statistics are disgusting but it’s not the focus of the BLM movement.

Arguments shouldn’t lead to shootings. The lady is right, “it starts at home”. Teach your kids impulse control and how to de-escalate confrontations (let alone not having kids carry guns in the streets). There is obviously not enough of that going on.

These situations are completely avoidable and are a sign of bad/no parenting.
