One person dies in home explosion in the Town of Burlington
RACINE COUNTY -- Racine County Sheriff's Office says a body was pulled from a home when officials responded to a large fire on Ketterhagen Road in the Town of Burlington Saturday, May 14th.
Authorities say they received a call of smoke and flames coming from a home on Ketterhagen Road at approximately 3:15 p.m.
Officials say before crews arrived, there was a large explosion at the residence.
In the process of fighting the fire, officials say one body was found inside the home, deceased. The identity and gender of the victim is unknown at this time.
"Within minutes the house had blown up, literally leveled with the ground. The debris was on fire as my deputies arrived. They immediately searched the area to the extent that they could safely, to try to locate any victims. At that time, they did locate one fatality," said Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling.

The Racine County Fire Investigative Unit has been called to the scene. They will be investigating the cause of the fire and why there was an explosion.
Officials say there is a lot of rubble, so crews will be at the scene working throughout the night and into the morning.
