"My heart just opened up:" Woman donates wedding dress to engaged couple who lost nearly everything in fire

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are set to charge the man arrested at Thursday's house fire near 34th and St. Paul. Firefighters say the man was impeding their work, and because of his behavior he was arrested and will be charged with interfering with a firefighter, reckless endangerment, criminal damage to property and arson.

The home that burned down house two families. While they no longer have a place to call home, we have good news for the couple who lived in the upstairs of the duplex.

The police tape still hangs as investigators continue to work on Friday, May 20th and the renters belongings still gone.

"I'm at a loss for words, really, I don't know," said Janee Robinson and Dennis Taylor, renters who lost everything.

"I'm at a loss for words, really, I don't know," said Janee Robinson and Dennis Taylor, renters who lost everything.

Robinson and Taylor were preparing for their wedding next month, their world was crushed.

"It's really going to be hard coming back from all this," said Robinson and Taylor.

Everything they had was gone, yet, through the tears there is a smile -- as their wedding bands were found unharmed. But her wedding gown is still gone.

Donna Cobbins-Cooley's was married to her longtime love just five years ago.

"It's magical. It's magical. Once you put a dress on," said Cobbins-Cooley.

Cobbins-Cooley's husband died of a heart attack shortly after. Just recently she decided to sell her dress online. A few offers came in but something told her not to sell.

"I wanted to keep the dress, preserve the dress but then I thought there's people out there that can use the dress," said Cobbins-Cooley.

That's when she saw Janee's story.

"My heart just opened up," said Cobbins-Cooley.

Cobbins-Cooley felt Janee's heartache.

"A wedding dress, that's a big thing. I figured hey, she lost one but now she can gain another one," Cobbins-Cooley said.

Cobbins-Cooley hopes to pass on the beauty she felt when she wore it.

We have had several people contact FOX6 News about donating a wedding dress to the bride. We are passing along that information to her.

As for the fire, it is considered arson. However, there is no known cause at this time.

The Milwaukee Fire Department believes it started on the first floor.
