Victim killed when tire blew on I-43 NB near Mequon Road has been identified

MEQUON -- Officials with the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office have identified a woman killed in a crash on I-43 northbound, north of Mequon Road on Monday, May 23rd.

The victim has been identified as Neisy Tejeda Jimenez De Galva of Milwaukee.

The crash happened shortly before 2:30 p.m. and involved a single vehicle.

An initial investigation has revealed a Milwaukee man was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer on I-43 northbound, north of Mequon Road in Mequon when, witnesses reported, the vehicle's tire blew -- causing the driver to lose control of his vehicle. The vehicle rolled over and struck the median barrier, coming to rest in the southbound lanes of I-43.

The driver and front seat passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A female passenger in the rear seat, Neisy Tejeda Jimenez De Galva, was ejected from the vehicle and died as a result of her injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
