Police: Man under the influence of marijuana mistakes dog bite for gunshot wound

GROESBECK, Texas -- A Texas man, who was said to be under the influence of marijuana, called police after he thought he had been shot in the buttocks, only to realize he was suffering from a dog bite.

According to a post on the Groesbeck Police Department's Facebook page, police on Thursday, May 26th responded to a report of a shooting at a mobile home park in Groesbeck.

When an officer arrived, a man flagged him down and said he was sitting on a porch when he was shot in the left buttock.

An investigation revealed the man had been smoking marijuana on the porch when there was some loud thunder. The noise startled the dogs who were with him, causing one to bite the man in the buttock, according to police.

The man, confused, thought he was shot and called police.

He was treated at the scene for his dog bite.

Groesbeck Police Department posted the incident report on Facebook, which has garnered more than 5,400 reactions and 6,300 shares.
