ALGOMA  — Five boats have been damaged in a fire at the Algoma Marina.

The U.S. Coast Guard says three of the boats sank to the bottom of Lake Michigan and a fourth was partially submerged. A fifth boat also sustained damage when the fire broke out just after midnight Thursday, June 23rd.

The Coast Guard’s Zach Hall tells WBAY-TV the boats were larger recreational vessels — 30 to 50 feet. The Algoma Fire Department contained the blaze and the Coast Guard has placed a boom across the entrance of the marina.
