Summerfest 2016 just days away; final preparations being made: "It's very busy on the grounds"
MILWAUKEE -- Summerfest 2016 -- just days away! The 11-day festival begins Wednesday, June 29th. On Monday, June 27th, final preparations were being made at Maier Festival Park.

Gaye Littell's day began at 6:15 a.m.
The trip from the Summerfest Office to Maier Festival Park is one she makes often.
"More times than I can count," Littell said.
Once on the Summerfest grounds, Littell spent the day overseeing preparations for the Big Gig.
"A much busier day as we`ve got a lot of our food vendor coming in to drop off and make their deliveries," Littell said.

Littell cruised the grounds -- where a maze of trucks and cars maneuvered around each stage.
"Always got to look both ways. It`s very busy on the grounds," Littell said.
Summerfest officials expect 850,000 people to visit during Summerfest's 11-day run.
If you don't get a front row seat to a concert at the Marcus Amphitheater, Josh Adams and those with his company, MidPool Live will make you feel like you are -- with a new theatrics LED screen.
"You go to a concert and you want to make sure during the day you have the resolution and the brightness that you need," Adams said.

Adams and his crew began working last Wednesday, June 22nd to prepare six stages with lights, cameras and video.
"We`re bringing world class production to the festival. We're in the home stretch," Adams said.
Littell said she's not worried everything getting done on time for the gates to open Wednesday.
"They`re all little minor hiccups that you expect along the way -- but everything is going really well. We have a very seasoned group of people that know how to work together and all the new kids that come on for the season, they learn pretty quickly and they get into the swing of things fast," Littell said.
A reminder: There will be metal detectors at Summerfest admission gates for the first time this year -- so you'll want to bring your patience along.
Summerfest 2016 opens Wednesday at noon.
