Two dead following single-vehicle crash in Village of Sussex

SUSSEX -- Waukesha County officials tell FOX6 News two people have died following a single-vehicle crash that occurred early Friday morning, July 1st in the Village of Sussex.

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department along with the Sussex Fire Department were called out the area of  Maple Avenue and Donna Drive around 11:40 p.m.

The first arriving deputy found a severely damaged car occupied by two unresponsive adults.  EMS personnel arrived and began life saving measures.

A 28-year-old Menomonee Falls woman and a 24-year-old Burlington man were pronounced dead at the scene.

The initial investigation indicates the car was northbound on Maple Avenue and lost control on the wet pavement south of Donna Drive.  The car crossed the southbound lane, left the roadway and struck a very large 4-foot-high tree stump.  Speed appears to be a factor.

This crash remains under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department.
