Popsicles with a punch: Turn cocktails into cool, frozen concoctions



MILWAUKEE -- There's nothing like a cool cocktail on a hot summer day -- but there's a way to make it even better. Alisa Malavenda of the Art Institute of Wisconsin joins Real Milwaukee with some Popsicles just for adults.

Bahama Mama Ice Pops


    In a 4-cup measuring cup or large bowl combine all ingredients. Pour mixture into popsicle bags or molds and freeze overnight.

    Piña Colada Ice Pops


      Purée all ingredients in a blender until smooth, then strain into a pitcher. Discard any solid fibers from pineapple. Pour into molds. Freeze overnight

      Georgia Sweet Peach Bourbon Pops


        In a blender mix all ingredients until smooth, and pour them into popsicle molds. Let freeze overnight.

        Negroni Grapefruit Pops


          Mix the water and sugar together in a small pan over low heat, and bring up to a boil until the sugar dissolves. Let boil for 3-4 minutes, remove from heat add vermouth and cool (makes a little over 1 cup of simple syrup).

          Combine the grapefruit juice with Gin  and Campari and add 1 ¼  cup of the cooled syrup. Adjust to taste Pour into popsicle molds and freeze overnight.

          Cucumber Ginger Gin Popsicles


            In a blender combine cucumber, lime juice, simple syrup and gin blend until mixture is smooth. Pour into a pitcher and add ginger beer and mix to incorporate.  Fill the ice pop molds with the cucumber gin mixture.   Freeze overnight

            Watermelon Margarita Pops


              Place all ingredients except mint in a blender and blend until smooth and sugar is dissolved. Add mint and let steep for 5-10 minutes.

              Strain ingredients leaving solids behind and discard.

              Stick a round of lime in the middle of the stick. Freeze overnight and sprinkle with margarita salt before serving. Enjoy!

              White Sangria  Fruit Popsicles


                Combine all ingredients in a bowl; allow to sit overnight covered and place in the refrigerator or if you are in a hurry , sit at room temperature for 2-3 hours.

                Divide fruit evenly between popsicle mold. Pour liquid into popsicle molds over night.. Note: Do not pack fruit into molds or the popsicles may not remain intact when removed and you can also dice fruit smaller to help them stay frozen and together longer.

                Mixed Berry Gimlet


                  Place limeade, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and gin in a food processor or blender and process or blend until pureed, about 1-2 minutes. Strain liquid and discard solids

                  Pour mixture into popsicle form and freeze overnight

                  Mudslide


                    Place all ingredients in a blender except 1 T  chocolate  and process until smooth, sprinkle remaining tablespoon of chocolate in the bottom of molds add to mixture. Freeze  over night

                    KIDDIE ICE POP

                    Gummy Bear Ice Pops

                    Fill molds ¾ full with 7-up or sprite OR  for a healthier version you can use coconut water.

                    Add gummy bears or other soft gummies like worms or fish to mold. No more than 8-10 per mold

                    Freeze for 1 hours and then stir a little to move the gummies around so they don’t all sink to the bottom. Freeze over night .
