"My boyfriend was murdered:" Mystery surrounds death of father of 3, beloved by co-workers

MILWAUKEE -- Mystery surrounds the death of a man in Milwaukee. His girlfriend discovered his body outside their home, and on Monday, July 25th, she suffered another blow.

Andy Voit was well liked at the Ground Round in Brookfield, where he worked. His co-workers had many positive things to say about him. They're planning a fundraiser to help his girlfriend and baby girl.

"My boyfriend was murdered in my backyard -- feet away from where me and my nine-month-old child were sleeping," Cori Biersteker said.

Sometime after Voit stepped out of his vehicle, and before he reached the door of his home, he was shot and killed. It happened on July 21st near 84th and Grantosa.

"I had gone outside to let my dog out. I opened the door and I saw him laying there. I have been through a lot, and that is absolutely one of the most horrific things anybody could ever go through," Biersteker said.

Police are investigating a motive, and searching for suspects.

Biersteker says her car was stolen, and police are investigating a possible link between Voit's death and a burning vehicle found outside The Rave on Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee.

"Andy liked Power Rangers and he liked Back to the Future and we were all about Pokemon Go. That`s what kind of a guy he was. He wasn`t involved in any crazy business he shouldn`t be," Biersteker said.

"We really, really miss him. I don`t think we`ll ever stop missing him," Azeem Virani, owner of Ground Round in Brookfield said.

Voit was the bar supervisor at the Ground Round. When staff learned of his death, the restaurant was closed early.

"At 4:00 p.m., we just did a hard close. Guests were understanding. The staff were in tears," Virani said.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help with funeral costs, and Ground Round co-workers are planning their own fundraiser.

"It`s almost surreal sometimes. It`s hard to believe that a good guy, that something like this would happen to such a nice guy," Randy Klamrowski said.

On Monday, July 25th, police were back at Biersteker's home. It was broken into -- a window smashed less than a week after the father of her baby girl was taken from her.

"If you know anything -- tell the police," Biersteker said.

Biersteker said she heard the gunshots on July 21st, but thought nothing of it.

Voit leaves behind three daughters.
