"Wasting my time:" Delivery driver arrested on warrants after calling 911 during traffic stop

ELM GROVE -- Elm Grove police on Tuesday, August 9th posted to Facebook a 911 call in connection with an incident involving a Wauwatosa pizza delivery driver that happened Saturday night, August 6th.

Police said the 32-year-old man delivering pizzas called the Elm Grove Dispatch Center to inquire about a traffic stop that was taking an excessive amount of time.

The caller requested to speak to a supervisor, and told the dispatcher:

“I was pulled over by Elm Grove police 15 minutes ago and they are just sitting in the car wasting my time. I don’t have any warrants. I know they are not taking this long to look up my record. I told them I am a delivery driver. I’m currently on a delivery, they are just sitting there.”

After hanging up the phone, the caller learned that the officer initiating the stop was the shift supervisor and that the stop was taking time because the caller was wanted on two Oak Creek Police Department warrants for loitering and drug paraphernalia.

Police say the officer who made the arrest "patiently waited 20 minutes for a replacement driver, who unfortunately the driver never arrived," and the pizza never made it to its final destination.

The delivery driver later posted bail and was released from custody.
