48-year-old Mukwonago woman killed after series of crashes which led to head-on collision

MUKWONAGO -- A 48-year-old woman from Mukwonago was killed in a crash involving two vehicles that happened on Saturday evening, November 26th on Sandy Beach Road near County Highway I.

It happened around 5:15 p.m.

Mukwonago police say the head-on crash involved a Hyundai Elantra and a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.

The driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 48-year-old Mukwonago man was driving the truck. He had two passengers -- a 42-year-old man and a five-year-old girl.

Police spoke with a 17-year-old witness -- who said he saw the Hyundai crash into another vehicle at County Highway J and County Highway I in the Town of East Troy -- fleeing the scene of that crash. The boy said the vehicle headed north on County Highway I -- where he saw the Hyundai leave the roadway and crash into two road signs north of Phantom Ranch Bible Camp.

The car then turned east onto Sandy Beach Road before it left the roadway -- striking a mailbox and a tree.

The boy said the vehicle then continued east on Sandy Beach Road in excess of 60 miles-per-hour in a 30 miles-per-hour zone before striking the truck head-on.

The investigation is ongoing.
