Roberta Flack cuts short her appearance at Apollo Theater
NEW YORK — Roberta Flack has been rushed to a hospital after cutting short her appearance at Harlem's Apollo Theater because she was not feeling well.
TMZ reports the 81-year-old singer was taken to Harlem Hospital in an ambulance Friday evening.
Flack apparently felt dizzy as she was about to receive a lifetime achievement award from the Jazz Foundation of America.
She was released from the hospital after several hours. Jazz Foundation spokeswoman Bobbi Marcus says Flack was "feeling fine," but went to another Manhattan hospital after for observation by her personal doctors.
Flack gained fame in the 1970s and 1980s with such hit songs as "Killing Me Softly" and "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face."
