NEW YORK — A Manhattan woman took the spirit of giving this holiday season to a whole new level. Susan Suchman bought an entire toy store and donated everything inside to those in need.

According to KTLA, Suchman donates to needy children in New York City every year and this year was no exception. While walking by a toy store for rent in the West Village, she got the idea to buy the entire store and donate the toys inside to charity.

“When I saw this store, I just realized I could just do it on a grander scale for this one year,” Suchman said.

Suchman bought the store, packed up the thousands of toys and stuffed animals — as well as boxes of school supplies and donated it all to the city’s Department of Homeless Services.

Thanks to Suchman’s generosity, thousands of shelter children will have at least one present to open this year.

“I know everyone could use a gift around the holidays,” Suchman said.

Homeless doesn’t mean they are literally without a roof over their head. Most of these kids in NYC are in temporary housing until they can find a permanent home. Most of these temporary housing situations are very cramped– 4-6 person families can be in a studio or 1 bedroom with only a microwave to cook. I learned this from 1) volunteering with NY Cares & 2) interning with Just Foods.

What a wonderful person! Now the kids will have a toy to cuddle or play with. I’m so happy to see there are still kind hearts in this world. :)
